Episode 2: 85%
Jan 15, 2024There are many myths about alcohol.
(We dissect them one by one in depth in the Sober Curiosity Lab)
But this one is probably one of the biggest:
“Weak-minded and unmotivated people lose control over alcohol.”
As an ex-drinker, a sober curiosity guide, and a therapist who specializes in alcohol misuse, let me tell you: the opposite is often true.
Strong-minded, motivated people often lose control over alcohol.
Highly disciplined individuals who strive to be 100% in life.
I, myself, was one of them.
Always the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Double-checking everything, because 'good enough' never feels good enough.
Living by the mantra: 'If you want it done right, do it yourself.'
Alcohol is an antidote to relentlessly pushing for perfection.
A much-needed break.
To rest, to slow down, to dissolve the pressure to be perfect, even for just a moment.
But life is too precious to live under that constant pressure to be 100%, only waiting for those momentary breaks when there is a bottle in hand.
Give yourself a break.
Just for one thing today, let 85% be good enough.
Because good enough is good enough.
