This is a QUICK STORY about how a former therapist broke the cycle of alcohol dependency and unlocked the positive loop of growth and fulfillment.

 

HEY, I'M JEANETTE!

Once a decade-long daily drinker turned psychotherapist, then a Sobriety Coach…

Here’s what I know about recovery:

  • It can feel dry and boring—like a room-temperature, stale Coke.
  • It can feel like an uphill battle—requiring constant white-knuckling.
  • It can feel like walking a tightrope—one misstep away from falling.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

I used to believe that recovery was supposed to feel like a never-ending fight—until I discovered the key to unlocking the Positive Sobriety Loop.

Traditional recovery approaches to quitting drinking usually focus solely on changing behavior, neglecting the deeper mindset shifts needed for a lasting alcohol-free lifestyle. But behavior is just the surface.

Beneath every action lie three powerful elements:

  • Values: What matters most and gives life meaning.
  • Beliefs: The lens through which we see ourselves and the world.
  • Results: The outcomes of our actions, reinforcing our beliefs.

Together, these four pillars (Values, Beliefs, Actions, Results) create either a negative cycle or a positive loop.

The Negative Dependency Cycle

 It’s fueled by unspoken values, unconscious beliefs, automatic actions, and unintentional results:

  • Unspoken values silently set our priorities.
  • Unconscious beliefs shape our feelings and drive our actions.
  • Automatic behaviors and habitual choices happen without much thought.
  • Unintentional repetition of similar results reinforce the very cycle we’re trying to escape.

When we address only behavior, the deeper layers (values, beliefs, results) remain unchanged. This creates internal conflict and requires constant willpower—making sobriety feel like an exhausting battle. As soon as willpower fades, the cycle pulls you back in.

The key to lasting, fulfilling sobriety isn’t willpower—it’s realignment.

  • Clarified Values become your inner compass, naturally guiding healthier choices.
  • Conscious Upgraded Beliefs empower your emotions and effortlessly support your new actions.
  • Deliberate Actions create intentional, positive outcomes.
  • Intentional Creation of New Results reinforce and strengthen a new, positive loop guided by supportive beliefs and clarified values.

This creates a self-sustaining positive loop—making alcohol-free living not only achievable but also fulfilling, joyful, and easy to sustain.
